FAQ

I noticed a pattern in the questions I receive in my direct messages, hence this FAQ. Hope you enjoy my FAQ page!

What do you do?

I’m a backend software developer – my language of choice is Java, but I’m happy to pick up tasks in Python, Scala, or C++. On the side I’ve been teaching myself full stack development using the MEAN stack.

How can I get started becoming a software engineer?

See if it interests you! My advice is to first Google the difference between a front end engineer, back end engineer, and a database engineer. Pick one that resonates the most with your goals and take a structured Coursera/freeCodeCamp/Udemy course on it.
If you’re still interested in becoming a software engineer, look into bootcamps or building out your portfolio. Find a mentor to help guide you through the long (but rewarding!) journey ahead.

What do you like most about your job?

I love that I get to solve different complex problems everyday. No two features that I implement are the same. With each one, there is thought and analytical thinking involved. This job keeps my brain on its toes!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My hobbies include traveling, hiking, working out, cooking, baking, and barista-ing. You’ll often find me on Yelp scouting out my next adventure!

Where can I find more information on #ReactResiliently?

Great question! Head on over to this page of my site: #ReactResiliently.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Northern California (United States) and I moved to Southern California for college and never left!

Can you do my homework for me?

Nope, unfortunately I can’t. I suggest heading over to StackOverflow if you really can’t figure it out.
